Bring your own device policy (BYOD)

Technology is changing every aspect of our work and personal lives, and so it is inevitable that the lines between these two areas are starting to blur. The Bring Your Own Device or BYOD revolution is growing every year, and now local governments are facing increasing pressure to allow their elected officials and staff to use their own tablets and smartphones and connect them to government networks. Has your organization implemented a BYOD policy? If so, attach a copy and share any words of wisdom on implementing the policy.

No, but some of our council members will bring their own device as they receive all meeting information via email.

We have started this process when we started doing electronic packets. All council members are allowed to use their IPads. We call it our Climate Action Plan. There is Wifi available for residents and city staff.

We do not currently have a BYOD policy.

We do not have a policy in place; however, because of limited revenue sources at this time, our local government officials and staff are forced to use perrsonal devices for everything.
